Flying J High-Speed Wireless Accessories

Make sure you have what you need to get connected

Special antennas that broadcast and receive an Internet signal have been placed in the buildings and parking lots at most Flying J Travel Plazas. Just like a CB radio, your laptop can be set up to receive and send this Internet signal.

The wireless signal will work well throughout the inside of the plaza building and over the entire parking area. Large obstacles (like other trucks) may impact your use of the system relative to the location of your wireless antenna.

The Basics You Need

The Wireless PC Card inserts into your laptops PCMCIA slot. It functions like a two-way radio for the Internet. The card needs to be compatible with your computers operating system and current 802.11b wireless standards. (Optional) The PC Card External Antenna plugs directly into the wireless card and can improve your signal reception if necessary. If you are accessing the wireless signal in the parking lot the external antenna may help. You can position the antenna so you have an improved line of sight to the roof top antennas.

OR

A USB Wireless Antenna is similar to a wireless PC card except it plugs into your USB port. The same chips that are in the wireless card are in USB antennas. While more expensive, the USB antenna combines the functions of the PC Card and the antenna. USB cables can be found in different lengths, allowing you to get the amount of cable for your needs.

For Best Results

Avoid using in areas where your wireless card or antenna is blocked by other vehicles or buildings. Best performance is achieved when a direct line of sight is available between your device and the building roof top antennas.
