USB User Instructions

USB Users Only: Please make a note of the following locations as you will be prompted for them after you reboot your laptop. DM9USB.INF (your USB Device Driver) is located:

Windows 98: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Windows ME: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Windows 2000: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

Windows XP: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

 

 

Windows 98:

 

If you are prompted for a CD to find networking files, use this location: C:\Program Files\EDNA\Win98.

 

After your boot, if you are a USB user, you may see the following screens the first time you attach a cable to the Flying J Data Jack device. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE USB TO CONNECT TO THE FLYING J EDNA DATA JACK COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SCREENS BEFORE YOU SWIPE YOUR CREDIT CARD ON THE DEVICE. (If you swipe your card first the device will charge you for your setup time, so make sure that you plug your USB cable in to the device without swiping your card.) These steps are only necessary the first time you use a USB cable on a Flying J Data Jack device. The necessary USB drivers will then be loaded on your laptop and you will be able to connect at any Flying J Data Jack device by simply plugging in the USB cable and swiping your card.

 

 

After you plug in your laptop with a USB cable for the first time you will see that you need to setup the proper USB drivers for communication. This can and should be done without a card swipe so that your setup time is not billed. Click on Next to continue.

 

 

Accept the default in this screen and click on the Next button.

 

After specifying this location click on Next to continue.

 

 

Accept this screen by clicking on Next.

 

If your laptop does not have all the necessary files that it needs you will see this screen. Click on OK. (We will provide the files necessary without the need for your Windows 98 CD)

 

 

 

In the Copy files from window enter the path shown above and click on OK.

 

 

 

Click on Finish to complete the USB driver install.

 

Click on Yes to restart your computer. The new drivers will not be used until a restart has occurred.

 

 

Windows 2000:

Accept the default in this screen allowing you to get the right driver. Click on the Next button.

 

Click on the box indicating you want to specify a location. Make sure all others are blank. Then click on the Next button.

 

Enter the path as noted above.

 

Accept this screen by clicking on the Next button.

 

Continue with the installation by clicking on the Yes button.

 

Click on the Finish button. You may now double click your EDNA icon on the desktop. Follow the instructions displayed to start your session.

 

 

Windows XP:

 

After you plug in a USB cable connecting your laptop to a Flying J Data Jack unit you will see a New Hardware Window.

 

Select the 'Install from a list or specific location' radio button. Click on the Next button.

 

Specify the path entered above and then click on Next button.

 

When the copy/installation completes click on the Next button.

 

Click on Finish button.

 

Click on Yes button to restart you laptop. When the system reboots you should double click on the Flying J Data Jack desktop icon. You will see instructions presented there to start a Flying J Data Jack Internet session.

 

 

 

Windows ME:

Specify a location to find the drivers using the path above. Click Next button.

 

 

Click on Next to continue driver installation.

 

Click on Finish button.

 

  

Click on Yes to restart your computer. The new drivers will not be used until a restart has occurred. After you reboot swipe your card in the Flying J Data Jack device. When you see the Flying J Data Jack device clock start, double click the Flying J Data Jack icon on your desktop and navigate the internet.

 

Post USB Instructions

You have finished installing the software necessary for Internet communication using the Flying J Data Jacks. 

 

If you intend to use a Dial-up MODEM connection on the Data Jack you may:

                   1. Connect your modem cable

                   2. Swipe your card for authorization

                   3. Dial your ISP and begin session

 

If you intend to use a High Speed Connection (Either RJ45 or USB) follow these instructions:

 

1.  Read the instructions in the browser page displayed pertaining to the Proxy

    Server Settings in your browser.  The Flying J Data Jacks do not require a

    Proxy Server and will not function if one is set. 

 

    You might have to click on the back button of your browser to see the Proxy

    Server information.  You can also display it by navigating to Start ->

    Programs -> Flying J -> Disable Proxy Server.

 

2.  If you intend to connect a USB cable to communicate please read carefully

    the information displayed in the browser window.  If you cannot see

    the browser window at this time, open it by navigating to Start ->

    Programs -> Flying J -> USB Installation Instructions. 

 

If you do not have a browser installed on your PC, please install Internet Explorer

6.0 which can be found on the Data Jack Installation CD.  View this USB

Installation file before you click on the Finish button so that you will be

aware of the locations of your new USB drivers. 

 

Make sure that you are familiar with the steps involved with the USB driver

installation BEFORE you plug a USB cable into the Data Jack device. 

 

After you have finished this installation and your laptop has been rebooted

follow these steps to connect to the Internet using the Flying J Data Jacks:

                   1. Connect your network cable

                   2. Swipe your card for authorization

                   3. Double click the Flying J Data Jack icon

                      on your desktop
